Available for sale is a fabulous pair of advertising blotters featuring Edwardian ladies. The Coal and Coke blotter is dated December 1917, based on the calendar on it and was made for B. Nicoll & Co of Philadelphia by the Gerlach-Barlow Co of Joliet, Illinois (marked across the bottom). It features one of the lovely American Girls that were popular in advertising from this era. Condition is very good with only minor wear.
The second blotter is from the Kelly Graphite Mills of New York and features Evelyn, with a Frank Desch signature in the bottom left corner, the name Evelyn below along with The Knapp Co, Inc of NY. Condition is good with minor wear, but there is a corner bend.
These lovely ladies were often see in advertisements during this era or featured in the yard long lithographs that are so collectible today.
