Available is a W.H. Tipton Cabinet Photo Card of Family and Children. This is a fine example of W. H. Tipton’s photography. Tipton gained fame for his photos during the Civil War of the Battle of Gettysburg. After the war Tipton called himself ‘The Battle-Field Photographer’ and noted it on the front and back of his photos. As shown in the pictures, he freely promoted himself on the front and back of the cards. He continued to profit from his Civil War photos. Here is an example of a young family with a little boy with a hat and a little girl sitting on the father’s lap. Families flocked to Tipton’s studio to have the famous photographer take their pictures. It was a status symbol to have your family portrait taken by the famous W. H. Tipton. The card measures 6 1/2 by 3 1/4 inches and is in very good condition.
