An Eclectic Mix of Antiques and Collectibles from Central Pennsylvania
This is a magnificent hand carved inkwell. The detail is incredible. Notice the fine carving technique on the collar of the dog. Then, the eyes were expertly carved and stained black. The dog inkwell was made in the mid 1800s by master carvers in the Bavaria area of Germany known as the Black Forest. The inkwell still has its original glass well inside the dog’s head. The hinge is tight and functions as designed. The inkwell is a perfect size for your desk standing 2 ½ inches tall and a base diameter of 2 inches. This is truly a stunning inkwell. Enjoy!
