This is an interesting find for the collector of Pre WWI German militaria - a pewter lid stein from the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Battery, issued to Kanonier Ludwig Eberle. It is dated 1899 - 1901, for the years he served and is made of porcelain with a pewter lid that features a canon and a lion. The inside bottom of the stein is what they call lithopone, meaning if you hold it up to light, you see the image, as I have shown in the photos.

Its got wonderful all over decoration and I've shown it from all sides in the photos, so you can see everything. It also lists the other names if the battery by the handle. Its 10 inches tall, about 5 inches wide, and the hinged lid works fine. Its in very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. There is a tiny line on the underside rim edge, that looks like it occurred in the making and some faint rough spots, also on the underside's rim, therefore not visible unless you turn it over and look pretty hard for them. Its got incredible color and detail and looks as if it was probably just displayed over the years. A nice piece from the estate of a military family who were stationed in Germany many years ago.

Please see the photos as they show the condition and detail well and use the "Click to Expand" on the bottom of the pictures to see them fully.
