Here's a beautifully-made, rare antique Scottish silver padlock that could be worn on a bracelet or silver chain.

This one is a bit unusual, not the normal shield shape but circular. The silver has been very finely engraved along the front, intersecting individual sections set with rich bloodstone and sienna-hued red jasper. In Scotland, red jasper was known as 'the warrior's stone' or 'stone of endurance' and was used for controlling and grounding. Jasper was often paired with bloodstone, which came from the Isle of Rum.

The back of the padlock is plain silver. Opens with a gentle squeeze and closes securely. I would date it to 1880-1910.

Measures 1&1/4" by just over 5/8." Weight: 4.9 grams.

Piece is in excellent antique condition, with slight surface scratching at the back.

Not marked but the metal tests as sterling silver.
