Here's a really lovely scent bottle dating to 1888.
Made from cream-coloured porcelain, the round bottle has a colourful bird to one side, perched on a gate with trees and birds-in-flight in the distance. The simple scene is framed in gold leaf scrollwork with an outer gold band. The back is adorned with a many-leaved flower or starburst filled in with vivid raised blue dots.
Vessel comes with an intricate silver foliate screw-top stamped with the Birmingham anchor mark, the silver guarantee, date letter "o" for 1888, and maker mark "J.R&S."
Condition is very good. There is light crazing as expected, but no damage. The back has a few marks.
