This lovely 9K gold antique bloodstone fob doubles as a locket!
The unusual piece opens at the bottom to reveal a black and white photo of a Victorian gentleman dressed in period clothing, with original frame and clear covering. The other side is empty.
The fob itself is beautifully made, with a lovely scrolled vine design that attaches to a beaded gold bail at the top.
The bottom houses an oval bloodstone measuring 17 mm by 14mm. The stone is deep green with a good sprinkling of red dotting. A nice smooth surface, the stone is in near perfect condition, with no nicks, chips or cracks.
Fob measures 1&1/8" tall and weighs 5.0 grams.
Very good condition. Fob could also use a light polishing. No damage.
Stamped "9, 375," the anchor mark for Birmingham Assay Office, and date letter "O" for 1863. Also maker's mark "M&M."
