Wonderful Victorian gilt locket houses stunning Bohemian garnets in a double star motif.
A cluster of lovely pear-shaped, deep red garnets make up a six-ray star design in the centre, surrounded by a silver star frame. The smaller garnets are pave-set over the entire front lid.
At the back there is an oval glass compartment containing a photo of a young man. The picture is set right behind the glass and when opened, there is space for another two photos!
Measures just under 1&5/8" long by about an inch across. Weight: 9.6 grams. Fastens with a slightly extended pin with "C" clasp.
Locket is in excellent condition for its age. No missing or chipped stones. The compartment has some wear, and the extended silver metal pin itself is a bit wobbly due to age and use. Nevertheless, it is a stunning piece of antique jewelry. Not marked.
