I love the look of old cut diamonds in simple collet-set settings.
Many older-cut stones had that beautiful romantic glitter, and the clean look of the collet setting showed off the entire stone without the clutter of claws or other embellishments. It was a popular look during the Victorian era, and continued to be so right up to the Art Deco period.
This old cut diamond is approx. 0.45 cts. and beautifully clean and sparkly. The colour is approx. H-I, which was typical for the time period. The stone is set in platinum with a very pretty pierced gold gallery. Band is 18K yellow gold.
Size is currently 7&1/2 and it can be re-sized to fit. Weight: 2.0 grams.
Excellent condition. No damage, just light antique wear. There are no marks on the inner band but ring tests as 18K gold with a platinum top.
