Absolutely stunning vintage bracelet from France contains three strands of gorgeous lustrous saltwater pearls and a beautiful large clasp decorated with genuine carved rubies, turquoise, and sparkling white diamonds!
Bracelet dates to approx. 1950 and weighs in at 37.6 grams. Sixty-six graduated pearls are strung on silk cord over three rows. The larger orbs are set at the ends with the smaller ones near the centre. Ranging in size from 5 mm to 7 mm, the off-white cultured pearls have light pink-green undertones, beautiful smooth surfaces with very few blemishes. Beautifully matched.
The round 18K yellow gold clasp (7/8") is covered in a stunning arrangement of brilliant gems: hand-carved rubies alternate with 10 brilliant round diamonds around the outside; inside, a ring of 2 mm turquoise cabs (10 in all) encircle a 0.25 ct. domed ruby cab. The outer rubies are about 5 mm long each, carved like leaves and total about 1.25 cts. Total carat weight of the diamonds is approx. 0.25 cts.
The bracelet fastens with a very good slide-in clasp that locks at the rear. Excellent condition. I don't see any damage, just normal vintage wear.
The wonderful piece is stamped with the French eagle mark for 18K gold (please see photo) and the maker's mark, "S" followed by a symbol and "B?" inside a lozenge.
