This king of the jungle has an exceptional mane, red ruby eyes and a diamond in his mouth!
Dating to the Art Nouveau era, the beautiful hand-made locket is 10K yellow gold and displays the most wonderful respoussé work. Handfuls of curly locks completely cover the lid of the locket. Just below the brow line are two beautiful deep pinkish-red ruby cabochons, set as the creature's eyes. A 0.15 carat round-cut old cut diamond is set inside the lion's wide mouth. Beautifully clear and white, the diamond is so very sparkly!
Locket opens from the side and closes with a good snap. If there was a photo inside at one time it is now gone as are the glass covering and frame. The "10K" stamp is very clear on the inside rim, with maker's symbol (I don't recognize it). The flip side of the piece is engraved with initials.
Pendant measures approx. 1" long (not including the gold jump ring) by 1" across. Weight: 5.4 grams.
Condition is excellent. No damage to note, just normal antique wear, most of it on the inside lid. A fabulous piece for the lover of antique jewelry!
