Striking large turquoise stones grace this wonderful silver filigree bracelet from China.
These are large stones, irregular shaped and a gorgeous shade of robin's egg blue. Bezel-set in traditional detailed silver mounts, the stones are housed on sterling silver filigree panels (professionally tested). The panels are just gorgeous, embellished with bold swirls, lacy shapes and silver beads. All of this work was hand-done sometime during the Art Deco era in pre-communist China.
The colour of the turquoise varies only slightly, with the two left stones appearing lighter along the bottom. The stones are a bit more blue in person than my photos suggest.
Since turquoise is one of the most imitated gemstones on the market, I had my gemologist take a look at these. He confirmed they are genuine turquoise and not plastic, dyed howlite or composite stones.
Bracelet measures almost 7" long by 1&3/8" tall. Weight: 56.8 grams. Fastens with a traditional locking slide-in clasp. The bracelet is in excellent condition. The silver is tarnished and I have not cleaned it. Not marked, but metal tests as sterling silver.
