"The man in the moon came tumbling down/ and asked his way to Norwich/; He went by the south and burnt his mouth/ With supping cold pease porridge."
This traditional English nursery rhyme about the man in the moon used to terrify my daughter. The idea of scalding one's lips on a hot bowl of pea pudding doesn't make for a relaxing children's bedtime story--imaginary person or not! She would have much preferred this man in the moon, all sleepy-eyed and sparkly. Beautifully hand-carved from clear rock crystal, this moon is slightly domed, and his features, finely executed. The lunar body is set in a thick 18K gold yellow bezel frame with a lovely bail to the top. Just below the chin is a trio of top-quality round-cut diamonds, set on the bezel. The bail is suspended on an over-sized wide gold jump ring that can accommodate any size of chain. Really wonderful look!
Pendant measures 1&1/4" from the top of the jump ring by just over 5/8" across. Weight: 4.4 grams. Back of the piece is stamped "750."
Excellent condition, with light surface scratching. Gorgeous!
