Lovely 1920s glass beaded necklace is 53” long and features cobalt blue lozenges hand-knotted between groups of strung beads: Round faceted blue beads, clear glass rondelles, and pairs of tiny black drawn bead spacers.
The necklace’s deep, rich color and subtle but chic pattern made it ideally suited to Jazz Age fashions, and its generous length mean it can be worn long, doubled, or end-looped into a lariat to accent your contemporary ensembles.
The unusually shaped lozenge beads measure just under 1 ¼” long and 1/8” wide; the larger round faceted beads are ¼” in diameter and the smaller 1/8” in diameter; and the clear rondelles are ¼” in diameter. Digital weight is a substantial 66 grams.
Good condition, with the dramatic hue of the beads intact but surface scratches or flea-bites to nearly every lozenge bead visible on inspection with a loupe (photo # shows typical examples). Without magnification, however, these age-related imperfections are not at all conspicuous, and the necklace presents beautifully.
