Vintage early 1950s silvertone thistle brooch or scatter pin from Hollycraft features four rhinestone-studded flowerheads (two purple, one teal green, and one blue) and one in cast metal, with a green enamelled leaf accent at the base.
Cartouche on the back is stamped “Hollycraft”.
This brooch or one in the same production run appears in two collector’s books: An identical version, with different color rhinestones, on p. 134 of Marcia Brown’s “Signed Beauties of Costume Jewelry”, and a larger version, with matching earrings, on p. 174 of Julia Carroll’s “Collecting Costume Jewelry 101”. (The brooch and one earring in Carroll’s book are dated “1953”; presumably that is the date of manufacture for this brooch as well).
Measuring 1.75” tall by 1” wide, this charming brooch is in excellent condition.
