Vintage 1930s annular brooch takes a sweet, carved creamed spinach Bakelite flower and gives it a Machine Age kick by framing it in gleaming ribbon twist metal.
The cabochon-like Bakelite element, domed and flat-backed, is collet-set into the metal frame, which has a smooth, polished back with safety-catch pin stem.
Measuring 1.5” in diameter, this brooch is in good to very good condition. Issues are wear to the gold wash over the metal, which appears mostly silver now, especially around the twisted outer edge. In addition, the flower cab has a slight wiggle to it, though it is securely held by the collet band and not in any danger of falling out.
The Bakelite flower has been Simichrome-tested.
