Vintage mid-century sterling bar pin from the Georg Jensen workshop features a plump little bird framed by a heart and sweetly half-hidden by a leafy sprig.
Introduced by Jensen silversmith Arno Malinowski in the 1930s--one of his signature “chubby bird” pieces—the charming design reflects his penchant for naturalistic motifs. A trained sculptor and medalist, Malinowski worked for Jensen between 1936 and 1944 and again from 1949 to 1965, designing holloware as well as jewelry, including a significant number of brooches.
Measuring 1 ¼” long by a touch over ½” height, this tiny but eye-catching accent pin has a digital weight of 2 grams. It is marked “STERLING DENMARK” on the reverse bottom of the heart, and on top, with the Jensen maker’s mark in use since 1945, along with the pin’s design number (282).
Excellent condition, with no flaws to note.
