Vintage 1980s silk blouse from Emanuel Ungaro’s Solo Donna line features a painterly tulip print in fuchsia, rose, azure, pale yellow, jade, flax and white on a black ground.
Slightly tapered at the hip, the easy, oversized silhouette includes scoop-neck, dropped shoulders, and black knit cuffs. I suspect that shoulder pads may have originally been present.
A four button partial closure (with small, lacquer-smooth black plastic buttons and fabric loops) eases entry and adds a further note of casual elegance.
Label reads “Ungaro, Solo Donna, Paris, Made in Italy”. A side seam tag near the hem indicates that the blouse is 100% silk with its cuffs a blend of acetate and rayon, and that it was manufactured (as all of Ungaro’s clothing had been, since the 1970s) by the Turin-based company Gruppo G.F.T. The tag has a spare button attached to it.
Tag size is a EU 40/US 6. Exact measurements are: Bust 40”, shoulders (approx) 16”, sleeves 24, waist 40”, hips 38”, and length center back to hem 24”.
Excellent condition, with no flaws to note.
