Vintage sterling brooch from Georg Jensen with the mark used from 1933-1944 features a spare delicacy, with its subtly hammered surface and simple, oval shape accented by a pair of bell-shaped flowers atop either corner. Though Jensen often used harebells—a perennial which is native to Denmark—as a motif in his jewelry, I believe what is depicted here are lilies-of-the-valley, as they are shown with the round berry characteristic of the latter flower.

The pinstem has a tube hinge and trombone clasp, which leads me to suspect the brooch was made at the earlier end of the time span in which the mark on it (“GJ” inside a rectangle) was used. The other marks are: “Sterling”; “Denmark”; and “141”, the design number for this particular brooch.

Measuring 1.75” x .75” and weighing 6.3 grams, this lovely and collectible brooch from a master silversmith is in excellent condition.
