Antique circa 1920 black silk evening or dress shoes are an elegant mix of late teens and early 20s features: An elongated toe, but with a curvy Louis heel and beaded Mary Jane strap.
The ½" wide straps fasten with grey mother of pearl buttons, and are decorated in a foliate motif with faceted jet glass beads. Typical of dress shoes in this period, the silk fabric covers a leather base except for the pointed toe, which is backed in a sturdy white faille. Shoe sole and sockliner are both black leather.
Shoes appear to be marked a size 6aa though the contemporary size equivalent is closer to a very narrow 5; exact measurements are 9" from toe to heel inside the shoe and 2 ½" across the tread. Heel is 2 ½".
Very good condition, with some superficial scuffing but no splits or stains to the silk; the most visible scuff is to the right heel (photo #5).
