1920s summer dress in a soft, sheer cotton batiste features a fabulous Art Deco floral print of pink, purple and black dahlias on a purple and white ground combining foliage and patterned, wavy dashes.
The silhouette is utter simplicity: A sleeveless, johnny-collared drop to the flirty, flounced hem, with an white (attached) middy-style necktie and flowy self-fabric (detached) scarf for accent.
Armscyes, flounce and hem are all contrast-piped in black cotton, and the decorative faggoting and edging on the middy tie are done in purple thread to match the print.
No closures of any kind; the dress is meant to slip on over the head.
Measurements are: Bust 36”, shoulder edge to shoulder edge 14”, waist 32”, hips 34”, and shoulder to hem 39”. The scarf is 68” long and 7” wide.
PLEASE NOTE: This dress is a very small size—if you intend to wear this, keep in mind that it must fit over your shoulders and bust, and is meant to skim the body loosely rather than hug your curves. In addition, you must factor in room for the slip you may wish to wear with this.
Good/very good condition, freshly washed and with the print gorgeous as ever. Flaws are two tea-colored spots and a faint, larger stain on one of the middy tie’s blades; slight colorfade/ yellowing across the back, inside the neck and under the armscyes; and a ½” spot of wear-through/fraying to the fabric on the right shoulder (all these issues are shown in photo #6). The scarf has 2 small (1/4”) holes and a ½” frayed spot (photo #7).
