Vintage 1950s straw hat with cluster of yellow daisies perched on the front brim lies somewhere between a platter hat and a Breton style.
Shallow-crowned and with a slight roll to the brim, which is wider at the sides and front than in back, it has an interesting pattern of slightly-raised triangles in the weave of the straw.
It has neither label nor lining, and secures to the head with the velvet wire clamps characteristic of the earlier 50s.
Measuring 17” around the inner grosgrain ribbon, the hat (which is meant to perch at the top of the head) has a diameter of 11.5” and a crown height of 1 ½”.
Excellent condition, with no flaws to note.
