Vintage 1950s polished cotton sundress and matching bolero jacket feature a pretty floral medallion print in olive green, slate, and pink on a pale khaki ground. The rich but subdued colors and lightweight fabric make the set perfect for transitional weather.
The square-necked dress has tank straps, a left side metal zipper, and box pleats all around the waist to give the skirt fullness. It has a self-fabric tie belt and deep (8”) hem.
With a narrow shawl collar and ¾ length sleeves, the cropped jacket hits at the waist and closes with a self-fabric frog at the top and an invisible snap further down.
Both pieces are unlined and unlabelled; the set, from a local estate, was expertly homesewn.
Dress bust 34”, waist 27”, hips 44”, shoulder to waist 15.5” and waist to hem 25”.
Belt is 1” wide and 59” long.
Jacket bust 36”, shoulders approx. 14”, sleeves 17” and length center back to waist 17.5”.
Dress is in excellent condition with no flaws to note. Bolero is in good condition, sturdy and clean but with discoloration at the neckline and period mends to both underarms (ribbon reinforcement to the seams, which shows through at the left underarm). Photo #8 shows these issues.
