The jacquard woven fabrics used in 1930s and 1940s neckwear were of a quality you just don’t see anymore. This c. 1940 richly patterned silk damask tie features a floral foulard pattern in blue, gold, and black on a crimson ground.
Labelled “R.H.Stearns Mens Shop”, it measures 48” long and 3.5” across the front blade and is in excellent condition.
The Boston-based R.H.Stearns department store was founded in the mid-19th century and expanded to a multi-store chain in business through the late 1970s.
