Three pairs of vintage c. 1950 Kayser “Stylon” stockings, shade “Debonair”, are unworn in their original box. The box features a white-on-blue fleur-de-lys which also appears as the pattern (with colors inverted) on the tissue paper inside the box.
Each pair of tissue-wrapped stockings has its original tag attached, reading “Stylon/30, Size 8 ½ Mids, $1.15, Kayser”. The tops are stamped with the following information: “Kayser Stylon, Strait on Heel, Pat 2,507,530, Nylon, Made in USA, 8 ½”. The Strait on Heel “straight seam” feature was patented by Julius Kayser in 1950, very helpfully narrowing the date on this pair (the patent was first filed in 1943, and Stylon stockings were widely sold in the late 40s; photo #9 shows a 1947 ad).
Each stocking pair also includes a vellum “award” congratulating the buyer on the wisdom of her purchase and describing the stockings patented features; both “Strait-on-Heel” and “Fit-All-Tops” (the latter feature being exactly what it sounds like!)
A reorder card is also present.
The stockings measure (unstretched and flat) 8.25” toe to heel, 5.5” across the calf, 6.75” across the top, and 29” down the center.
Stockings are in unworn, mint condition; box is in good condition with soiling and rubbing at the corners, including a split top right corner (photo #8).
