Vintage late 1980s Mila Schon double-breasted blazer in a jersey-soft bronze wool is jacquarded with silver-grey medallions inspired by a menswear foulard pattern.
The straight-cut jacket features curved, padded shoulders; exaggerated lapels; onseam hip pockets; and 2 large faux cats-eye plastic and metal buttons. It is fully lined in matching satin.
Label reads "Mila Schon, Made in Italy, 100% Lana/Laine/Wool"; tag size is 46. Exact measurements are: Bust 40", shoulders 16", waist 36", hips 38", sleeves 24", and length from center back neck to hem 30".
Before launching her own label in 1958, the Yugoslavia-born designer was a well-heeled customer of Dior and Balenciaga who took inspiration from them. She opened a boutique on Milan’s prestigious Via Montenapoleone in 1965, and became a leader of Italian haute couture as well as a pioneer of high end ready-to-wear. Known for her understated, classic designs and exquisite tailoring, her A-list clients included Jackie Kennedy. A retrospective of her work was exhibited in Milan shortly after her death in 2008.
