Vintage knit rayon or rayon-blend tie colorblocked in brown, taupe, and aqua features a square bottom and sports the initial “M”.
This exact tie was advertised as a holiday gift in December 1950 (photo #5), and followed the knit-your-own-initial-tie kits of the previous holiday season. An article in the November 13, 1949 Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports such kits cost $1.75 and came with simple instructions and “angel crepe” yarn (a blend of wool and rayon).
Measuring 54" long and 2 ¾” across the front blade, the tie is unlabelled and in excellent condition.
