Vintage 1950s party dress in lustrous rayon copper satin features a fitted, V-neck bodice with sweet cap sleeves over a full skirt with back bustle effect.
Vertical darts front and back shape the torso-hugging bodice. The modified circle of the skirt has a flared, gently-pleated cut in front, while in back, abundant gathers along the curved, dropped waist yoke build in folds of glorious, dance floor-worthy volume.
NOTE: The dress is displayed in most photos with a crinoline, not included in the sale. Photo #6 shows the dress with no crinoline underneath.
The dress closes in back, with a metal zip from the deep V of the neckline to low hip. It is partially lined, with satin self-facing to the front neckline and brown net facing from shoulder to high bust level on top and from waist to knee level in the skirt (photo #7). Has pinked seams and a 2.25” wide hem.
No labels are present, other than a cloth inventory tag (likely from a dry cleaner) near the hem of the skirt.
Measurements are: Bust 35”, shoulders 15”, waist 24”, hips 42”, shoulder to waist seam 15”, shoulder to hem 45” in front and 47” in back, and sweep at hem 128”.
Very good condition, with two ¼” pale spots toward the left front hem and one dark ¼” spot on the left shoulder, all visible only on close inspection (photo #8).
