Vintage 1960s brooch and clip earring demi-parure from Jerry De Nicola features goldtone roses accented by what appear to be cultured pearls.
The beautifully-detailed roses have a matte, frosted finish (not quite Florentine, as there are no cross-hatched lines engraved), with the edges of the petals polished in places to better reflect the light. The prong-set pearls are nestled artfully in the curling petals.
The back of the brooch, which has a built-in pin assembly, is signed "De Nicola" on a cartouche, and one earring has a signed cartouche on the clip mechanism. Brooch measures 1 ¼" in diameter; earrings measure ¾".
De Nicola founded his company in the late 1950s and continued to produce jewelry with his maker's mark only till about 1970, making it fairly scarce. An early line was advertised as "The Real Look", which sums up De Nicola's design approach!
This pretty demi is in very good to excellent condition, with slight darkening to the back of the marked earring (see photo #5). Please note that what "reads" in the pictures as dark spots on the edges and in the folds of the petals is actually the polished finish (vs frosted) goldplating.
