Vintage mid- to late 1940s black rayon taffeta umbrella with multi-colored ribbon striped border has a 3.75” amber Bakelite block handle with brass lamp-pull carrying chain. Stripe colors are yellow, light/medium/dark blue, red, wine, green, grey, tan, pink and white, with the stripe pattern at the hem repeated in part at the tip of the umbrella.
The sixteen rib umbrella has a wooden frame and measures 23.5” long when closed. The tips and ferrule are amber plastic to match the handle; Simichrome-tested handle tests positive for Bakelite; tips and ferrule do not.
No labels of any kind. Very good condition, sturdy, bright, and usable, with one pinhole near the outer edge, minor wear to the plating finish of the brass carrying chain, and a ¼” chip to the bottom of the handle (photos #7 and #8 show these issues).
