Smart vintage 1940s LeFaye box purse in chocolate brown Corde fabric with a wonderful diagonal pattern is the compact size and shape of a small book. The gilt brass frame has a snapover clasp with ball ornament and the self-fabric carrying handle crosses from corner to corner over the purse, repeating the diagonal motif.
The interior is lined in rich wine satin with an integral mirror and 2 open sidewall pockets that are just the right size for a lipstick and comb, suggesting this was originally sold as a vanity purse.
The small sidewall pocket is very faintly embossed with the LeFaye ballerina logo, with the words “Genuine” and “Corde” on either side of her in tiny capitals.
Measuring 8” x 4 ½” x 1 ½”, this chic little handbag is in very good condition, with minor unevenness to the color of the lining and a touch of cloudiness to the mirror.
