A strappy take on Mary Jane styling, these vintage early 1970s black satin evening shoes from Christian Dior feature ¾" platforms and 3 ½" heels.
They likely date from Dior's (Marc Bohan-designed) 1972 collection, which according to a Bernadette Morris article in the NY Times, showed crepe or georgette evening dresses that flared toward the floor, while the shoes had "high, chunky heels and modest platforms, less than an inch high."
The shoes are fully lined in slate-grey leather and have black leather soles. Marked a size 7, with a measurement of 9 ½" from heel to toe inside the shoe and 3' across the tread (widest part of the sole).
Sockliners are embossed "Christian Dior Souliers". Very good condition, with light scuffing to the platforms and moderate wear to the soles.
