Vintage mid-1950s Italian red suede & white leather ballet flats take the Mary Jane out for a spin, with “racing stripes” down the center back of the heels and a narrow V-shaped strap that keep the shoes anchored despite their very low cut vamps.
Leather soles and linings, suede heel grips, and stacked (1/3”) leather heels.
Sockliners are embossed: “Creazione Sistina, Via Sistina 406—Roma. Stamped Italian size 37 on the soles, they measure 9 1/3” from toe to heel inside the shoe and 3 1/8” across the tread (widest part of the bottom of the shoe); this is approximately equal to a modern US 6 or 6.5.
Very good to excellent condition, with minor scuffing to the suede but little to no wear otherwise. A museum deaccession, the shoes have inventory numbers written on their soles.
