Microbeaded mid- to late Victorian reticule-style purse with looped fringe features a floral design over a scene of a manor-like building with towers and gate in front of it. Design colors are ocher, brick brown, white, dark pink, and shades of green on a dark blue ground; looped fringe is brick and clear opal.
The central flower is a rose; the one to the right of it appears to be a chrysanthemum and I am unable to identify the partial shape of a white flower to its left. The manor scene includes several trees: Evergreens alongside it, and a shade tree to its far left. The design on both sides of the purse is identical. No lining is present.
Measuring 5 ¼" x 5 ½" with a 1" fringe, the purse is in very good condition. Though the beadwork in the design of the purse appears intact, there are several white seed beads missing in the top and bottom bands of the purse, and there is stress at the outer bottom corners where the fringe is joined to the purse (see photo #7, where I believe a blue bead or two, as well as a brown fringe loop, may be missing).
