Mid-19th century Victorian drawstring reticule purse features a lovely beaded design in three horizontal bands: A narrow band of small turquoise flowers on top, then a wide middle band of large pink and blue flowers, and on the bottom a village scene (with house, church or farm, and trees) in turquoise, royal blue, white, ochre, green, and black on a wine-red ground.
The top of the purse with drawstring appears to be cream silk, and the lining a soft brown cotton. A museum deaccession, the purse has an inventory number inked inside the top.
Measuring 8” by 5”, this antique purse is in excellent condition, clean, bright, and with any bead loss minimal and hard to detect.
