Unusual late 1930s into early 1940s two layer tilt hat tops a tam-shaped base of pale gold sateen machine-embroidered with slender brown triangles and lined in rich copper satin with a turban-like little twist of the same two fabrics.
The wire ring that secures the hat to the head in back is wrapped in the copper satin, for a “rear view” as striking as the saucy one in front. A small plastic comb attached to the wired black net circle inside the hat provides an anchoring boost, though I suspect it isn’t original to the hat.
No labels of any kind. The diameter of the hat lying flat is 9" and rises to approximately 3” at the top of the “turban”, and the diameter of the wire ring in back is 6". Excellent condition, with no flaws to note.
