BIOGRAPHY:
Manuel Higueras Garcia was born in Barcelona on 1st July,1973, and moved with his family at an early age to Malaga. His was not an easy childhood: his father suffered with alcoholism and Manuel was dyslexic - thus, his home- and school-life were often a struggle. As some salvation, Manuel Higueras discovered solace and expression through Art whilst very young. He remembers painting a copy of Michaelangelo’s “The Pieta” at just six years old.

Although largely self-taught, Higueras attended Malaga’s Fine Art School and went on to establish his first solo exhibition in 1994, which travelled very successfully across many major cities in Spain.

Hyperrealistic in style, often with a sprinkling of magical realism, Manuel Higueras creates compositions with a dream-like quality: serene, vibrant, nuanced, transcendent; depicting the beauty of his subject, be this in his clean, pure still lifes or in the near mystical elegance of his equestrian works. He is a great lover of horses and of the beauty to be found in the natural and physical environment.

Manuel Higueras Garcia now teaches art in Malaga and continues to produce works inspired by the miracle of nature and the beauty of objects around us. His paintings have been exhibited across the world, and his works are shown and collected publicly and privately extensively throughout Spain, as well as in France, Holland, England, Germany, Japan, Russia, Mexico, and the US.
