Andreas Gyula Bubarnik (Hungarian b.1936) Still Life of ham, lemon, silver wine jug, and wine glass, oil on panel, signed lower left, 15.5in x 11.5in, mounted in a gilt moulded composition frame.
We rate this artist extremely highly, as good as or even better than many of the 17th Dutch still life painters of the “Golden Age” who were his inspiration. The immensely high degree of realism has been achieved by other artists but few have come anywhere near Bubarnik’s ability to create depth through perspective and light. If art is ever again judged first on technique and composition and not “concept” (plus self-promotion and hype) then Bubarnik is likely to become rightly recognised as a master. His work has become highly collected and we feel sure will prove an excellent investment.
