This is classic Campbell. The 3D effect of the cheese projecting from the painting is quite amazing. It looks like it is about to fall out of the painting. Of all this artist’s paintings, those of vintage wine bottles are the most sought-after and the trompe l’oeil ones are the most sought-after of those.

BIOGRAPHY: Raymond Campbell was born in.1956 in Surrey, England. Professional since the age of 22, he is today one Britain’s leading contemporary still life artists, whose works are appreciated worldwide.

With a natural aptitude, ambition, and a sense of destiny as a child, the young Campbell eschewed a formal training, instead traveling through the Far East, South America, Australia, and Europe, soaking in colour, light, and landscape. In Europe, Raymond Campbell’s affiliation for the works of the C17th Dutch Old Masters lead him to study their techniques and composition, and this absorption of Flemish traditions carries through into the paintings most associated with and celebrated of his in these present times.

Raymond Campbells works are deservedly recognised internationally and are internationally successful ; prints of his are widely available and his original works are presently collected in the USA, Australia, the UK and Europe.

Exhibitions include those at the Mall Galleries, London; four times at the Summer Exhibitions held by the RA, in 1992, 1993, 2013, and 2014; and in 2017 at the Royal British Artists Exhibition, London.
