An amazing 15 piece C.1925 Venetian Murano Salviati Glass Octagonal Wine Set with gold flecks and decorated with swirled bulbs and applied blue drops. Comprising:

We decided to re-photograph and re-list this because the our images really did not do it justice before. The ones against a white background still don't. There are quite astonishing variations in color with different lighting and backgrounds but to be displayed to greatest advantage, bringing out the gold flakes, the background needs to be dark . Contrast the image of the set taken against a black background in which the gold really stands out with those we took with white light against a white background in which it is more green in color. In some natural lights they can also appear as a subtle sepia.

All pieces are in original, undamaged condition. Note, this is handmade artisan glass with each piece made individually, with rough pontil marks and small flaws here and there. There is a tiny bubble near the rim of the pedestal bowl, for example. As with all glass of this kind pieces are not identical and there is some variation in the density of gold flecking, including in individual pieces.

The temptation to have a small party and fill the jugs and glasses with red wine and the bowls with little treats has been very strong, but resisted! We will just have to imagine how the gold flecks would look against the background of red wine. Maybe the new owner of these could send us a photo!

This will be shipped from our UK office. We have not pre-packed the set as we prefer to re-examine and pack each item immediately before shipping. Packing this set will require cocooning each component in tissue and bubble wrap and then padding the whole set to prevent any movement inside the shipping box.
