Biography: Born in Budapest, Hungary, Boros Gyula’s talent and love for Art was apparent from an early age. Developing on his talent in his youth, Gyula worked as a graphic designer and ornamental artist, and studied at the Budapest Art School. He is, however, largely self-taught.
He began his career as a professional artist in 1977, mainly painting landscapes. However, he soon turned to the mastery of still life for which he has become so celebrated; greatly influenced by his love for the Golden Age of Classical Dutch Realism. Boros Gyula’s paintings are rich in exquisite and extraordinary detail: in depth, colour, texture, sheen and substance; and he brings a tangible quality to the array of: glass, pewter, precious metals, ivory; to his flames of candlelight, and the cast of shadows.
Boros Gyula is a very collectible artist, and has exhibited around the world: in Budapest,, Amsterdam, Thailand, London, Vienna, Salzburg, Lyon, Munich; and also in New York and Philadelphia.
