An outstanding pair of 19th century English seascapes of the same scene painted in both calm and stormy conditions, watercolor on paper, neither signed. Each 61 x 42cm (24 x 16,5in) sight (visible painting) size. Glazed with cream mats in what we think are very likely the original gilt wood frames, each 97 x 77cm (38.25 x 30.50in) max.
CONDITION: Both in outstanding ready-to-hang condition. We have had them professionally restored to a very high standard. They were foxed to different degrees, the mats stained and the frames damaged. We commissioned a firm of professional watercolor conservators to restore the paintings and an antique frame restorer to replace the mats with duplicates of the originals and restore the frame moldings.
