CONDITION: Perhaps a little faded, but otherwise in good original condition. The frame has had a few minor knocks, but nothing appreciable.
BIOGRAPHY: Catherine B Gulley (British fl.1908-1928) lived and worked in Bristol, England, painting portraits and genre subjects, mainly in watercolours. She exhibited mainly at the Royal West of England Academy, where she was also a member, but also at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool (11 works), the Royal Academy (7 works); the Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham (3 works) and once at Manchester City Art Gallery. She lived at various addresses in Clifton, Bristol from where she also painted works exhibited in Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and seven works at the Royal Academy. Although she mainly exhibited from 1908-1928, she continued to paint throughout her life and exhibited two further works in 1962 at the Royal Academy.
