This 16 inch tall doll, circa the late 19th century, was manufactured by the German firm of Simon & Halbig. She has a bisque solid dome head and an early composition straight wrist body. The doll retains her original blonde mohair wig in original set. She has brown glass paperweight set eyes and a closed mouth with pierced ears. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The back of the head is incised, “S 9 H//949.” The body retains the original finish. The clothing consists of an antique white cotton lace trimmed petticoat and pantaloons. The antique cream color cotton print and silk dress may be original to the doll. She is an absolutely beautiful doll that would rival any French bebe of the same period.
