This 16 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, was created by the German firm of Kley & Hahn. This is one of the rare character dolls mold number 549. She has a bisque socket head and her mohair wig in original set. The character face has dimples, a closed mouth and set blue glass eyes. The back of the head is incised, “K&H//549//4//Germany.” The bisque head has no chips, cracks, or repairs. The doll has a ball jointed composition body with the original finish. It is in very good condition with some paint wear and missing the little finger of the left hand. The doll wears an antique white lace dress with insertion. The dress is lovely but would be absolutely beautiful with ribbon in the insertion and a little repair by the new owner. Miss Kley & Hahn also wears antique white cotton lace trimmed underclothing and antique shoes and socks. This doll would complement any character dolls collection and would look lovely in conversation with her contemporaries created by Simon & Halbig, Kestner, and Kammer & Reinhardt.
