This 15 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, was manufactured by the German firm of Swain & Company. This character doll is often called Lori Baby. She has a solid dome bisque socket head and a composition bent limb baby body. She has blue glass sleep eyes and an open mouth with two upper teeth. The back of the head is incised, “Germany//232.//5.” The five piece baby body retains the original finish. The head is in good condition with professional repair on the neck socket. This repair is quite difficult to see without the aid of a black light. I will be stuffing the solid dome head with tissue for shipping to protect the glass sleep eyes in the solid dome head. Lori wears a lovely white cotton baby dress with gorgeous lace inserts. I have always loved the Lori mold and have priced this doll to compensate for her neck socket repair. In any case, she is an appealing baby with great charm.
