This 13 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, was manufactured by the German firm of J.D. Kestner. The baby has a bisque socket head and the original bent limb composition baby body. The doll has his/her original mohair hair wig and plaster pate with brown glass sleep eyes and an open/closed mouth. The body retains the original finish and is in excellent condition except for a small broken area on the lower back and missing finish on the heel of the left foot. I believe my photos accurately show this condition. The back of the head is incised, “Made in 9. Germany. 11. //211//JDK.” The baby wears a great antique sun suit that allows the fabulous character quality of the head and the beautiful original finish of the body to be displayed.
