This 13 inch tall German character doll, circa the second quarter of the 20th century, has a celluloid head, cloth body, and hard plastic hands. She has molded and painted facial features with a closed mouth. I love her original braided mohair wig. The head is in excellent condition and is marked with the helmet symbol followed by “Germany//No. 4//30.” The head is a very sturdy durable celluloid and not the extremely fragile carnival doll type. The original ethnic costume of cotton and velveteen is in excellent condition. The doll is in virtually unplayed with condition. She reminds me of the fabulous character dolls of Simon & Halbig, Kestner, and Kammer & Reinhardt. She would be an interesting addition to any German character doll collection.
