This 9 ½ inch tall doll, circa the 1860s-1870s, has a 2 ½ inch Parian untinted bisque shoulder head manufactured by the German company of Simon & Halbig. The body is stuffed polished cotton cloth, jointed at the shoulders, hips, and knees. She has glazed porcelain lower legs adorned with painted decoration on the top of each sock and fabulous purple/pink luster heeled shoes. She also has slightly bent at the elbow untinted lower bisque arms with well delineated hands and fingers. As I am particularly attracted to this particular head mold, I am quite familiar with the body. I believe that this body is most likely original as every original one I have inspected has had, in various sizes, the same lower arms and luster boots. The doll wears white cotton clothing with a hand sewn There lace trimmed skirt and pantaloons complemented by a ruffled blouse and plain camisole. The doll is completely unmarked with a slightly turned head, molded and painted facial features including blue eyes and a closed mouth. She also has blonde painted hair with comb lines and curls. She is in excellent clean condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. I simply love this doll and particularly her petite cabinet size.
