This 9 inch tall autoperipatetikos doll has a papier mache head and leather arms. Her polished cotton dress appears to be all original. The doll, circa the 1860s-1870s, has a printed label on the wooden base that reads, "Patented July 15th, 1862; also, In Europe, 20 Dec. 1862." The doll is in good sturdy condition with no repaint or repair to the papier mache. The mechanism does not work and she does not have a key. I have tried to price her accordingly and I do have a reference for someone who repairs this type doll if the buyer is interested. I find these early automaton mechanical dolls quite fascinating whether they actually can walk or not.
